Red lanterns sway gently in the wind, firecrackers echo through narrow streets, and families gather after months — sometimes years — apart. At my family home, preparations begin early. Dumplings are handmade in a flurry of flour and laughter, ancestors are honored at a small home altar, and the scent of simmering stews fills every corner.
